Congratulations! If you are reading this, you are likely newly engaged and about to embark on a very special season! Being newly engaged is such an amazing time in your life and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. So, I hope you are soaking up every ounce of these cloud nine feelings! Although being engaged is a joyous season, once wedding planning creeps in, it can start to get stressful.

And I get it, I mean there are so many things for you both to think about. These are things like where you’re going to get married, when are you getting married, and what all goes into planning a wedding anyways?!

All of these racing thoughts are exactly why I’m here today! To help you with what 3 things you should do when you first get engaged- before the inevitable stress sets in.

01. RELAX

Be sure to fully take in the moment of being engaged with your partner for a while before you start thinking about wedding planning. Now, I’m not saying wait until 6 months before the wedding to start planning but at least take that first month to soak it all in. You can host an engagement party with your partner and invite all your friends and family to celebrate in the meantime.

02. GET ORGANIZED

Now that you have taken some time to enjoy being engaged with your future spouse you can start the wedding planning process. Get organized and figure out when you want to the knot, where, and how big you want your wedding. Go on Pinterest or Instagram to grab some inspiration or create yourself a “wedding mood board.” This will help you get a clear idea of what you need to look for.

03. BOOKING TIME!

Since you know what kind of wedding you are interested in having, you can now start going on the hunt in person or online to book your venue and vendors. (I highly suggest you book your venue, photographer, and videographer asap!) Make a day for you and your partner to go venture out and have fun with it. Send out all of your save the dates and invitations as soon as you can too! This way so you can get a headcount quickly and get an idea of how much of what you’ll need.
