How To Make Family Photos at Your Wedding Fast and Easy

5/27/22

Let’s talk about how to make family photos at your wedding fast and easy! Whether your wedding is a big one with all of your family and friends or an intimate one with only your closest people, family portraits can get hectic quickly. Especially if you have certain family members that want to steer clear of one another (let’s be honest, we all have them!). That’s why, today, I wanted to share some of my tips on how to make this part of your day faster and easier!

If you’d like to read more, scroll down below for all the tips!

01. MAKE A LIST AND LET YOUR FAMILY KNOW

The best thing you can do for preparing for family photos is to make a list. On that list, you will put down the first and last names of your immediate family that you want photos with. After you have written down all your immediate family then you can get into friends or guests. After you have all the people you want photos with written down, separate them into groups of importance. Meaning maybe your parents are the number one priority and your friends are the least priority. This will help your photographers know who to photograph first and last. It’s also important that you let your family know that they will be called for family photos. If they aren’t present then they probably won’t be able to get in any photos so it’s important to tell them ahead of time!

02. STAY CALM

Yes, I know… it’s super easy to get overwhelmed and stressed with family around. But if you are calm, they’re calm and if you are stressed, they will be stressed. Get where I’m going with this? The calmer you are, the easier it is to get those family photos done fast and easily. Just remember, family photos can be super fun, and know that you will treasure these for your lifetime.

03. START WITH THE BIG GROUPS

The most efficient thing to do when having your family photo taken is starting with the big groups of people. This way you can get everyone out of the way at once and finally focus on just a couple of small groups at a time. Getting those big family photos out of the way first will automatically put you and everyone else at ease! This is definitely one of my favorite tips for family photos and trust me, it goes much faster after the big groups.
